Digital Twinning

Digital twinning, creating a software representation of a real-world system or object, has been around for a decade or more but is seeing explosive growth. Combined with the advances in the complimentary, physical technology and the realisation of ROI for the upfront costs, it is a platform that uses advanced simulation tools to integrate system-level data and subsystems capabilities, allowing users to run scenario evaluations and optimizations.

Digital twining combined with advances in sensors and other product health-monitoring systems will drive improvements, from product development cycle times, to shortening production downtime, to increased human productivity when combined with advances in AR/VR. It will be a backbone for most advanced manufacturing over the next few decades.
