Domestic robots become commonplace

If we think about domestic robots today, what comes to mind is Roomba, a robot vacuum. Despite the popularity of this robot, we are still far away from mainstream adoption and broad use cases for domestic robots. Examples of existing use cases include floor dusting and mopping or lawn mowing.

The future will see the widespread adoption of domestic robots that can take on the most tedious and time-consuming activities: clothing ironing and folding, meal preparation, moving heavy objects, and window cleaning. The technical enablers will be the improvement of the “brain” of these robots, better machine learning and training algorithms, better sensors to see, manipulate, and locate.
