Battery energy density doubles
In addition to getting cheaper, batteries will continue to grow more energy dense. That is to say, new battery technologies will continue to increase the amount of energy a battery can store relative to its weight and size. In the 2020s, advances in lithium-ion anode materials, electrolytes, and packaging will lead to a doubling of energy density, meaning that the same size and weight of battery will be able to store twice as much energy, powering a car or drone for twice the range, or enabling mobile computing devices to do more for longer.
