Prime Movers Lab invests in breakthrough scientific startups founded by Prime Movers, the inventors who transform billions of lives. We invest $1mm-$3mm in seed-stage companies reinventing energy, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, human augmentation, and computing. The demands of global fundraising, extensive sourcing, rapid evaluation, intensive diligence, and extensive portfolio support require impeccable organization and operational excellence. We need a Chief of Staff to support the General Partner across investor relations, investment research, founder coaching, and fund management.

The right candidate will bring energy, accuracy, discipline, emotional intelligence, and an entrepreneurial spirit. An exceptional Chief of Staff will relish the challenge of hundreds of emails, meetings, and opportunities to manage and getting the details right every time. It is important to have experience across early-stage startup creation and investing and to bring extraordinary communication skills. Relationship management spanning investors, founders, and partners is crucial.

We are looking for someone who has meaningful startup and/or venture capital professional experience, and is excited to grow into a world-class Chief of Staff. Through his own example and idealism, our Founder and General Partner leads a values-driven culture and needs a Chief of Staff who can keep up and wants to learn how to be the best support possible. We will invest in training and developing the right candidate to meet our needs.

Responsibilities

  • Primary support for the Founder and General Partner in fundraising, investor relations, business diligence, market research, portfolio support, and marketing
  • Potential LP follow-up, managing the pipeline, and closing paperwork
  • Communication with current investors and responding to requests
  • Relationship building with key investor contacts and other funds
  • Calling potential customers for feedback on investments under review
  • Research to evaluate market sizes of potential startups
  • Coordination of founder retreats and support activities for founders
  • Management of regular blogging and speaking engagements
  • Preparation of investment memos and term sheets
  • Partnering with our Founder on broad needs across fund management
  • Run our CRM for tracking investors and deals

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in start-ups and/or venture capital
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be confident to make complicated decisions on your own when needed or know when to delegate issues upward
  • Flexible hours and availability with a start-up attitude of intense dedication
  • Experience in investment diligence processes
  • Tech-savvy and willing to roll up your sleeves
